Mobster AU
Caden rapped on the door to what he considered a quaint little house, pleasant smile plastered on his face. He was dressed casually in dark jeans and a yellow button-up, sleeves rolled back to avoid getting blood on his clothes, a small stack of fake pamphlets in his hand. Hidden away at his back was a various assortment of sheathed knives, as well as a few extra stuck in his boots for good measure.

Liam paused in going through and organizing his parents old belongings, trying to get an idea of what they left behind when they passed away a few months prior. He dusted his hands off on his pants, sleeves to his faded green cardigan had been pulled up, but now fell into disarray as he jogged to the front of the house.
"Be right there!" He called before he reached the door, opening the door without bothering with the peephole. "Hi," He started, pausing a moment when he saw the pamphlets in Caden's hands, figuring he was a solicitor. "I'm, ah, not interested in buying something if that's what you're here for."

"Oh, no, not at all!" Caden said, passing Liam one of the colorful pamphlets, a glossy photo of a happy puppy staring up at the human. "I help run a non-profit for sick and injured animals called Pawsitive Healing. I'm collecting donations and spreading the word."

Liam took the pamphlet, looking surprised but pleased. "Oh! Well, I can't really say no to helping out animals." He said with a light laugh, turning to grab his wallet from a side table on the other side of the door. "I've got ten I can give you, but I'll keep a hold of your pamphlet for later." He said as he fished the money out of his wallet.

Caden lithely stepped into the house, nudging the door closed with his foot. He pulled a smaller knife and pressed it to Liam's throat, almost hard enough to cut. "Don't scream. It'd be a shame to end this so gruesomely," he said, crowding Liam farther into the house, flicking the lock on the door. "Your parents owe us quite a lot of money, Liam, and I've been sent to collect."

Liam felt his heart stop, his hands shaking and causing him to drop his wallet and money. "M-My parents? W-Who are you? I-I didn't know they were in debt.." His voice shook as he spoke, his eyes wide with fear. "Please, I don't know anything about a debt."

"That's unfortunate. Your father borrowed nearly a million dollars from us," Caden told him, finally taking the knife away, though he didn't move far from Liam. "895,000 dollars, to be exact, but since he's dead, well, that debt falls to you."

Liam stared at Caden in shock, dread washing over him. "8-895,000? I-I- There's no way, I don't have that... that kind of money... I-I don't..." What could his father had needed that much for, and who was this man? Liam didn't understand what was happening, he had just wanted to take care of his parent's home and items, not get wrapped up into some debt his father had managed to collect. "...I-I don't have that kind of money..."

Caden didn't look phased by the answer, having already expecting something like that. He just let out a sigh and tucked his knife away. "You'll have to bring that up with Lazarus, then. I guess I've been demoted to courier," he said, grabbed Liam by the arm and starting to tug him towards the door. "Come on, then. Laz isn't a patient man, and he'll already be disappointed he gets you instead of his money."

Liam stared with wide eyes at Caden for a long moment before struggling against his hold. If he could get away maybe, maybe he could run and make it to the authorities. "L-Let me go!" He yelped, trying to pry Caden's fingers off of him.
